2017 Skoda Octavia Combi STYLE G-TEC – 1.4 TSI CNG – test - 2nd page
In addition to the refreshed interior details continue to contain the extra vent openings and below a small compartment, which also has rubberized inner part like the center console compartments and cup holders - premium car worthily. In the rear seats row still behind fully retracted seats also remains a place for a comfortable trip. This is true, but only a few cm (1 cm = 0,39 inch) left to reach the front seat of our knees, but within normal limits offers a huge space for all passenger, as in the top-class models.
2017 Škoda Octavia G-TEC - interior details - |
The center seat backrest can be folded down, which can be used for armrest and included rubberized cup holders, and the skis tunnel, when we fully impact the center seat backrest, and these are already essential to Škoda. Next to the spacious interior, we also get a huge luggage space, which is great in the basically 480 liters (in the petrol (TSI) and diesel (TDI) versions already 610 liters), which is quite enough for driver and four passengers packs, especially if the luggage space is used up to the roof, but if we want to transport it - it does not matters. If you drop the seat back, the cargo area is expanded to 1 610 liters (in the TSI and TDI versions 1 740 liters – only CNG version has a smaller luggage compartment), so you can easily fit your IKEA wardrobe or other objects. You can expand the boot space by one or two steps, placed in the luggage compartment by pulling handles, after which we can put you in a good big luggage compartment.
The interior in full light - reading lights, legroom lighting and on the doors the mood lighting in the form of LED strips running all the way |
A tested newer Škoda Octavia Combi CNG equipment included the extra SIMPLY CLEVER smart solution package, which is only a few euros extra, but such we get smart additions like a flashlight in the luggage compartment (magnetic so that the body plate can help in the wheel change, its basic function is the extra luggage compartment lighting) and many other Simply Clever solution. The Simply Clever pack even adds mobile holder, which is can be placed in the cup holder, ice scraper on the fuel filler cover. The G-TEC testcar can also be used with CNG gas, what I tested, and these versions get the STYLE equipment (in the Slovakia, and only RS and L&K is a higher level in the equipment).
The test car has already reveived the cooled glove compartment, which can be very useful in the summer |
The Octavia G-TEC equipment included interior light in foot area in front and rear, and such accessories are also included as interior light pack (interior lighting effects in 10 different colors - adjustable), and this is can be found on the instrument panel and doors, but previously only the SuperB and Kodiaq used. Under the luggage compartment floor only tire repair kit can be found, which is all Octavia part of the standard equipment, but we can ask for a smaller amount temporary spare wheel (£ 100), and in the CNG version the spare wheel is not available because of the CNG tank. Is an excellent alternative to a diesel engine The newer Škoda Octavia got a more sporty, aggressive look, but the tested model was an alternative powered economical model from the Czechs. Under the bonnet, an 1.4 TSI petrol engine is found, which produces 110 horsepower (81 kW) between 4 800 and 6 000 rpm, but its torque is not the most, which only 200 Nm (between 1 500 – 3 500 rpm), but enough for everyday use. The conventional 1.4 TSI petrol version stronger than its 150 horsepower, which makes you go better the Octavia. |
With the new design, the instrument cluster is more beautiful |
The tested Octavia G-TEC mounted with 6-speed manual transmission, can also provide low rpm in cities at 50 km/h (31 mph) speed for low fuel consumption, but even so the great Octavia starts to acceleration. In the 1.4 TSI engine such a low rpm the turbocharge does not yet turn on, but you have enough strength - that without straining, the Octavia is going nicely. The gearbox and TSI engine work together nicely, so even at a speed of 90 km/h (56 mph) in the 6th speed, also starts to accelerate nicely (with 1-2 people, but with 4-5 people and packages, however it is worth redeeming). When the turbocharge is turned on force, from stroke suddenly starts to accelerate the family estate, which is very good at overtaking. |
2017 Škoda Octavia G-TEC Combi - in the white, it is more like a business car appearance, but it is still nice |
The 1.4 TSI engine it may look small for such a car size, but enough for everyday use for also family and business cars. Škoda gives 5.8 l/100 km (approx. 40 us mpg) of petrol fuel consumption, which is expected to be between 6-7 liters (approx. 39.2 – 33.6 us mpg) for normal use, and 5.7 m3 of CNG consumption. The TSI engine it can also provide dynamic guidance, which does not even look disturb even the 11,0 second acceleration (0-62 mph), plus one of the worst in its category. The petrol tank (size: 50 liters – 13.2 us gallon), another CNG tank (size: 15 kg) was also given to the Škoda Octavia G-TEC estate, but it does not take away from the passenger compartment, the extra tank significantly increases the range. We get the dynamic driving experience and comfortable travel comfort, plus the quiet cabin, making it a perfect travelling car. |
... and the renewed rear part |
The suspension settings bring the usual comfort, but the Octavia steering has been revised, so already much more direct and sporty than before facelift, plus the gearbox makes it easy, precise to gear shifting, thus enhancing the driving experience. The Škoda still kept it the traditional handbrake, which is a good thing, but an electric handbrake is also available from optional list, however the electric handbrake is complemented with HILL HOLD CONTROL, which can help a lot of beginner drivers and those who are more difficult to go uphill. The Hill Hold Control you will start off smoothly uphill without having to use the handbrake or risk inadvertently rolling backwards - as they are written in the Škoda Octavia catalog. |

We can still choose the Octavia RS sport models and Octavia Scout off-road models. The Octavia RS available with 2.0 TSI with 230 and 245 hp, but 230 hp engine on request with manual and DSG gearbox, and the RS245 version only with DSG.
